Police kill suspected kidnapper, rescue two kidnap victims in Delta

The police spokesperson said the police also nabbed a suspected robber and recovered a pistol from him.

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have killed a suspected kidnapper after his gang members engaged them in a gun battle on Friday.

Disclosing this on his official X handle on Sunday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the suspect died of gunshot wounds.

According to the state police spokesperson, the operatives rescued two kidnap victims.

He said, “Delta State Police Command on April 26, 2024, successfully rescued two kidnapped victims in Orogun, one of the suspected kidnappers died due to injuries sustained during the gun duel.’’

Mr Edafe also disclosed that operatives of the Eagle Net, Owvian Aladja Division of the command, nabbed a suspected armed robber and recovered a pistol from him.

“Eagle Net, Owvian Aladja division also arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered one English-made Beretta pistol,” he stated.

The state police spokesperson said that the Commissioner of Police, Surajudeen  Abaniwonda, promised residents that they would sleep with their eyes closed.
