Police detain two PWDs over tricycle snatching

The Lagos State police have confirmed the detention of two persons with disabilities (PWDs) for allegedly attempting to steal a tricycle from another disabled individual.
In a statement on Sunday by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson, the victim reported the incident to the Denton Police Division on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
He said the tricycle rider recounted that on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m., he gave three disabled men a ride from Boson Roundabout Oyingbo to Third Mainland Bridge.
“Initially, he refused their request to drop them on the Third Mainland Bridge Intersection. However, upon attempting to do so, one of the suspects produced a cable wire to strangulate him.
“The rider wrestled with the suspects, turned the tricycle back to Okobaba, and apprehended two of them while the third escaped.
“Following the incident, the police detained the two suspects and recorded their statements. Preliminary investigations suggest that the trio specialised in snatching tricycles from unsuspecting members of the public,” said Mr Hundeyin.
Mr Hundeyin said the case was under investigation, and efforts are underway to apprehend the third suspect.
