The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, on Sunday, said it responded to 126 emergency incidents across the state in September.

The agency’s permanent secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos.

Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said September was higher than August which recorded 121 incidents.

“The agency, saddled with the overall responsibility of coordinating emergencies and disasters in the state, attended a total of 126 incidents across the state in the month of September.

“This is compared to 141 in January, 156 in February, 148 in March, 132 April, 147 in May, 126 in June, 123 incidents in July and 121 in August.

Mr Oke-Osanyintolu said the 126 emergency incidents attended in the month of September revealed that the road accident category ranked highest.

“This is with a record of 52 vehicular incidents, followed by 23 others in second place, with 20 incidents in the truck and tanker category comprising 18 accidents and two  broken down trucks in third place.

“Lagos Island and Apapa LGAs recorded five incidents each in seventh place, while Lagos Mainland and Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGAs both recorded four incidents each to occupy the eight position,” he said.

He added that Ikorodu, Epe and Ibeju-Lekki LGAs recorded three incidents each at the ninth position, with outside Lagos boundary interventions recording two incidents.

“Ifako-Ijaiye and Badagry LGAs both recorded one incident each at 10th position, however, Amuwo Odofin and Agege LGAs recorded no incidents during the period under review,” he said.
