The Police Command in Lagos State said it arrested a 21-year-old woman, simply identified as Blessing, for allegedly stealing a one-month-old baby boy.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.

Mr Hundeyin said that the mother of the baby, whose name was not given, reported the case at the Elere Police Division on Monday at about 2.30p.m.

He said the mother of the baby reported that at about 7.00a.m. on Saturday, while she was sleeping at home with her baby, Blessing allegedly stole her child and went away.

The command’s image-maker said that the suspect after stealing the child allegedly went to church to give testimony of giving birth to the baby.

Mr Hundeyin said that the suspect was later traced to the Agbotikuyo area in Agege where the baby was recovered from her.

He said that an investigation was ongoing on the case.
