Plateau College of Education secures accreditation for 30 academic programmes

The Plateau College of Education, Gindri, has secured full accreditation for the 30 existing academic programmes.
Elizabeth Aboreng, the college’s public relations officer, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Jos, the state capital.
She noted that the giant stride and other achievements were recorded under its current management, led by the acting provost, Lazarus Maigoro.
Ms Aboreng maintained that the accreditation would improve the quality of learning in the institution, particularly by ensuring its graduates get the desired respect in the competitive labour market.
She listed other remarkable achievements, such as securing approval to reintroduce the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Science, which had been shut down for over 15 years.
”One of the greatest achievements recorded by the college in the last six months is securing full accreditation for the 30 existing academic programmes.
”Other achievements recorded are the full implementation of pending staff promotions and efforts to commence degree programmes that have reached an advanced stage.
”Purchase of a 48-room building to address the deficit in students’ accommodation and the improvement of security within the host community.
”Provision of portable water to the college and prompt payment of teaching practice allowances, among others.
”These and many other laudable initiatives were recorded in the last six months that Prof Maigoro assumed office as the acting provost,” she said.
Ms Aboreng thanked Governo Caleb Mutfwang for the confidence reposed in the acting provost, particularly for extending his tenure by another six months.
