Plane crashes in U.S., kills all onboard

A plane crash as it attempted emergency landing at Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday killing all on board.
“A single-engine airplane has crashed off the eastbound lanes of I-40 just past the Charlotte Pk exit,” Nashville Police Department announced in a tweet on Monday night. “5 persons on board the airplane perished in the crash.”
Don Aaron, spokesperson for the Nashville Metropolitan Police at a press conference Monday, said Nashville’s John Tune airport control tower received a message at approximately 7:40 p.m. ET from a pilot, seeing permission for emergency landing due to engine failure.
Though the tower granted emergency landing permission, the plane could not make it safely.
In a tweet on Monday, Nashville Fire Department said it “crews responded to this single-engine airplane crash where heavy fire was present when they arrived on scene. Crews were able to put the fire out while preserving evidence so the appropriate agencies can investigate what led to the deadly crash.
This comes a few weeks after Herbert Wigwe, Access Bank CEO, his wife Chizoba, son and others were killed in a helicopter crash in the U.S.
Mr Wigwe was travelling with other family members and Chris Ogunbanjo in a Eurocopter EC 130 chopper when it crashed near Nipton, California.
The crash occurred about 60 miles from Las Vegas, where the victims were reportedly travelling to see the Super Bowl on Sunday in a march between Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
