Bishop Akhalamhe, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) governorship candidate in Edo, has announced Joyce Idubor as his running mate for the September 21 election.

On Tuesday, the governorship candidate presented Ms Idubor at the party secretariat in Benin.

Ms Idubor is a pastor and an educationist.

Speaking during the event to announce Ms Idubor, Mr Akhalamhe said that choosing her was all-inclusive, adding that party members agreed to the decision.

He said the nomination of Ms Idubor was borne out of the fact that the party was gender sensitive.

“Today, I have picked a female deputy governorship candidate in the person of Dr Joyce Olamilayo Idubor. I believe she will add value to our ticket and the party.

“And I appeal to women in the party and in the entire state to support us so that, together, we can contribute to the development of our state,” he said.

According to him, Edo will experience good governance when the party takes over the state’s leadership mantle.
