Overheated solar panel caused Ibadan residential building fire: Official

A fire incident in the early hours of Monday razed a four-bedroom residence located at No. 1 Happiness Close, Akufo Estate, Elebu area of Ibadan.
Yemi Akinyinka, the general manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, disclosed this in Ibadan on Monday.
Mr Akinyinka said the agency promptly deployed a team to the scene upon receiving a distress telephone call at 1:13 a.m.
“The firemen swiftly swung into action and were able to curtail the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties.
“The fire officers were also able to rescue the family from the building, and no casualty was recorded,” the fire service chief said.
Mr Akinyinka attributed the cause of the fire incident to overheating of a solar panel installed in the building, which caught fire and ignited nearby combustible materials.
