Oscars 2023: Highlights and winners

The 95th Annual academy awards signalled the end of an awards season that embodied a magnificent red-carpet spotlight and amazing acceptance speeches.
American television host Jimmy Kimmel took the stage to host this year’s Oscars at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
He was joined by other presenters like Riz Ahmed, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael B. Jordan, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Troy Kotsur, Jonathan Majors, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monae, Deepika Padukone, Questlove, Zoe Saldana, and Donnie Yen.
On the red carpet were Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Tems, Florence Pugh, Cate Blanchett, Molly Sims, Janelle Monae, Jessy Buckley, Pedro Pascal, Andrew Garfield, Harvey Mason jr. and Britt Mason, Austin Butler, Deepika Padukone, Steven Spielberg and the cast of The Fabelmans to mention a few.
Performances at the Academy Awards are Rihanna rendering ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, Sofia Carson and Diane Warren rendering ‘Applause’ from ‘Tell It Like A Woman’, David Byrne, Stephanie Hsu, and Son Lux rendering ‘This Is a Life’ from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava rendering ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’ Lady Gaga rendering ‘Hold my hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick.
Winners include everything everywhere all at once for Best Picture, Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) for Best Lead Actress, Brendan Fraser (The Whale) for Best Lead Actor, Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert (Everything Everywhere All at Once) for Best Director, Everything Everywhere All at Once for Best Film Editing, ‘Naatu Naatu’ From RRR for Best Original Song, Top Gun: Maverick for Best Sound, Women Talking for Best Adapted Screenplay, Everything Everywhere All at Once for Best Original Screenplay, Avatar: The Way of Water for Best Visual Effects, All Quiet on the Western Front for Best Original Score
All Quiet on the Western Front for Best Production Design, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse for Best Animated Short Film, The Elephant Whisperers for Best Documentary Short Film, All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany) for Best International Feature Film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever for Best Costume Design, The Whale for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, All Quiet on the Western Front for Best Cinematography, An Irish goodbye for Best Live-Action Short, Navalny for Best Documentary Feature Film, Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once) for Best Supporting Actress, Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once) for Best Supporting Actor, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio for Best Animated Feature Film.
