Nigerian comedian Michael Sani Amanesi, popularly known as MC Lively, says though he is a certified lawyer he opted to be a comedian because the industry does not pay well.

MC Lively in a chat with Chude Jideonwo said that he was offered  N5,000 at a law firm as a National Youth Corps member, describing it as “upsetting.”

“I love law so much. I excelled at it so much. I really really loved it. But there was such a struggle between what I should do in school and what obtains in real life. It is so different. It is so different. I mean, how do I go to law school spend such huge amount of money. I’m coming out as a corper and you’re telling me that you can pay me 5,000 naira per month. To do what? It was really upsetting,” MC Lively said.

The comedian lamented how difficult is was for him to get a chamber to serve, saying “that’s just NYSC, so imagine what you’d have to go through, even when you’re doing the NYSC and you want a real job, an actual job. So it was such a problem. It was such a huge problem and it affected me personally.”

Speaking further MC Lively said his decision  to venture into the entertainment industry as a comedian was inspired by Falz the Bad Guy.

“I was telling people that I want to be a comedian. Such a huge problem. They’re like, so why did you spend five years [studying law]? I’m not sticking to law school again. I want to become a comedian. Sometimes when you want to do something, you find it easier when you see someone who has done that same thing. So I said is that not Falz the Badt Guy. He studied law now,” MC Lively said.
