NPFL: Edo sports boss rallies Bendel Insurance ahead of Nasarawa Utd clash

Amadin Enabulele, the executive chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, has urged Bendel Insurance FC players to remain focused and ambitious as they prepare for their NPFL Matchday 34 encounter against Nasarawa United.
Enabulele, during an unannounced visit to the team during their evening training session at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Saturday, assured the players of improved welfare and infrastructure support.
He commended the club’s remarkable turnaround since December 2024, when they struggled at the bottom of the league table.
“From fluctuating between 19th and 20th place when I assumed office, you’ve transformed your performance impressively.
“Now we’re fifth, and with more effort, second or third place is within reach,” Enabulele stated.
The sports commission boss noted that the initial goal was to avoid relegation and emphasised that the team now had a realistic shot at continental football and must seize the opportunity.
“There’s no pressure—we’ve already exceeded our survival target,” he said. “But now, the chance to earn a continental ticket is within our grasp. Let’s go for it. Let’s fight for the key to the promised land.”
Enabulele also promised an upward review of the players’ salaries should they qualify for continental competition.
He revealed ongoing plans to upgrade the team’s camp hostels and procure a new team bus.
“I’ve prepared a special package for Sunday’s match. It’s better than anything you’ve received before. Win this game, and I’ll make good on my promise,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the team, head coach Greg Ikhenoba expressed gratitude to Enabulele and the Edo government for their unwavering support.
