Northerners complaining of nepotism were silent under Buhari’s govt: Shehu Sani

A former federal lawmaker from the Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has slammed northerners for complaining of nepotism in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Several northern groups have accused Mr Tinubu of nepotism in his appointment of people into key positions in his administration.
The chairman of Arewa Economic Forum (AEF),Ibrahim Dandakata, in a recent statement accused Mr Tinubu of a deliberate attempt at limiting his appointments to Yoruba people, especially from Lagos.
However, Mr Sani, in a post on his X handle on Monday, accused northerners of keeping quiet during the reign of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The lawmaker commended Afenifere, a Yoruba Pan-African sociopolitical group, for speaking up against lopsided appointments by the Tinubu-led administration.
He wrote, “The Afenifere group from the South West has raised a voice against lopsided federal appointments, despite that it benefits its region. Their northern counterpart that is now talking kept mute when it was happening under the past leadership.
“Many people are happier when they enter into an office and see a man from their ethnic group at the helm of affairs. That is the seed of nepotism.”
