Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has urged the newly elected chairs of 13 local government areas to be transparent and accountable in discharging their duties.

Speaking at their swearing-in ceremony on Monday in Lafia, Mr Sule urged them to execute projects and programmes that would directly affect the people’s lives.

“You are to embrace transparency, accountability, probity and above all, prudence in the management of public resources,” Mr Sule told the chairs.

The governor congratulated the elected chairs and 147 councillors, saying their emergence reflected the electorate’s confidence in them.

“I call on you to justify the confidence reposed in you by turning around the fortunes of your respective local government areas,” the governor said.

Mr Sule also commended security agencies for maintaining peace before, during, and after the election.

Responding on behalf of the chairs, Mohammed Haliru, the chairman of Lafia, pledged their commitment to good governance.

He thanked the electorate for electing them and promised they would deliver as promised.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) won in all the 13 LGAs in Nasarawa.
