Nine die, 11 injured in Katsina lone crash

About nine persons lost their lives and 11 others injured in a lone crash on Malumfashi – Kafur Road in Katsina State.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Aliyu Ma’ áji, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday in Katsina.
He said preliminary investigation indicated that the lone crash involved a bus with 20 occupants.
Mr Ma’aji attributed the accident to speeding as a result of which the driver lost control of the vehicle.
He said, “The FRSC, Katsina State Command announced to the general public of an ugly incident of road traffic crash at Malumfashi town, on Malumfashi – Kafur Road. It resulted in the death of nine people travelling in a Hummer bus conveying 20 people, 11 persons were rescued and now receiving treatment at a hospital for varying degrees of injury.’’
He, therefore, urged motorists to avoid speeding, overloading and reckless driving during the festive period.
This, he said, led to the loss of lives in spite of the government’s efforts in constructing good roads.
