Nigeria’s New National Anthem (Full Lyrics): Tinubu knocks off Obasanjo’s record

President Bola Tinubu Tuesday, at a joint session of the National Assembly, announced the outlawing of the current national anthem and the return of the old.
The president later arrived at the joint session and confirmed ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee’ as the “latest national anthem” before joining lawmakers in singing the new anthem, which was initially introduced in 1960 but later outlawed during the Olusegun Obasanjo military regime in 1978.
Nigeria’s new National Anthem
Nigeria we hail thee
Our own dear native land
Though tribes and tongue may differ
In brotherhood we stand
Nigerians all, are proud to serve
Our sovereign Motherland.
Our flag shall be a symbol
That truth and justice reign
In peace or battle honour’d,
And this we count as gain,
To hand on to our children
A banner without stain.
O God of all creation
Grant this our one request.
Help us to build a nation
Where no man is oppressed
And so with peace and plenty
Nigeria shall be blessed.
