Nigeria draw goalless against Ethiopia to qualify for 2022 World Cup in India

Nigeria women’s National under-17 football team on Saturday played a goalless draw with their Ethiopian counterparts to qualify for the upcoming 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
The match, played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, was the final round of the World Cup qualifier.
Both teams were reported to have played a game of supremacy to feature in the World Cup in India, and fought in the first half but were unable to utilise their scoring chances.
On the resumption of second half, they both continued with the spirit of scoring but the gods of soccer didn’t smile on either side.
The goalless draw, however favoured the Nigeria Flamingos, who won the first leg in Addis Ababa penultimate weekend 1-0.
Since the competition was launched in New Zealand in 2008, Nigeria had failed to qualify to participate in only tournament – the 2018 finals – held in Uruguay.
The winner on aggregate will pick one of Africa’s tickets to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India scheduled to hold on October 11 to 30.
