Nigeria, Belgium strengthen ties on food security

Finance minister Wale Edun said on Tuesday Nigeria and Belgium would strengthen economic ties to enhance food security.
This was disclosed in a statement.
According to the statement, Mr Edun and Belgian ambassador Pieter Leenknegt met to explore ways to facilitate cooperation in agriculture and food security.
“At the meeting, Edun highlighted Nigeria’s improving economy, declining inflation, price stability, and increased savings in the federation account.
“Also, the government’s ever-increasing support for farmers through sustainable policies in order to boost agricultural productivity,” the statement said.
Mr Edun further reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to key macroeconomic reforms.
Mr Leenknegt had earlier expressed Belgium’s interest in deepening economic relations with Nigeria for mutual benefit.
“This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Belgium.
“The two countries would continue to explore opportunities for cooperation,” stated the Belgian ambassador.
