A non-governmental Organisation, Society for the Transfer of Appropriate Sustainable Technology and Expertise, has provided access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene facilities to one million Nigerians in the last 25 years.

The Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Ben Udejiofor stated this at an event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the organisation.

According to him, the beneficiaries of its various interventions in the last 25 years were largely rural dwellers.

He explained that water was provided through solar-powered boreholes, adding that it also built modern latrines to promote sanitation and hygiene in schools and communities.

He said, “TASTE has supported disadvantaged communities across Nigeria to access safe drinking water while sharing the Christian gospel and demonstrating the love of God. The support compromises drilling of boreholes to provide a sustainable and safe water supply, constructing hygienic latrines and undertake community development toward building cohesion and resilience. In the last 25 years of our existence, TASTE has helped over one million individuals gain access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene facilities.’’

Mr Udejiofor thanked the British High Commission, Irish and Australian Embassies, the European Union, United States Agency for International Development and World Server, for their support, particularly for funding some of its projects.

He also thanked Wateraid Nigeria, Overseas Fellowship of Nigerian Christians, Harry Inman Charitable Trust, X-Cel Superturn, Sheffield, Tearfund, Rotary club Fleetwood, among others international organisations for their support.
