The Akun Area Council Authority in Nasarawa State has cautioned commercial motorcyclists against violating traffic laws.

The warning was issued on Friday by the council’s Administrator, Dr Garba Adigizi, while receiving officials of the Motorcycle (Okada) Riders Association of Nigeria, Akun chapter, during a courtesy visit.

Mr Adigizi stressed that adherence to road safety regulations would not only save the lives of the riders but also that of their passengers.

He also advised them to refrain from operating at night, noting that it was in their own interest and important for the overall safety and development of the area.

The administrator expressed appreciation for their visit and assured them of a conducive environment to support their operations.

He further enjoined them and other people of the area to be law-abiding; respect constituted authorities and live in peace irrespective of their affiliations.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Haruna Angbashim, said that the visit was to congratulate Mr Adigizi on his appointment as administrator of the area.

He also assured the council boss of the association members’ commitment to consistently adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

Mr Angbashim pledged the association’s full support to the administrator to help ensure the success of his tenure.
