Governor Bala Mohammed has urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ, whose birthday is celebrated by Christendom churches on December 25.

“Jesus Christ had throughout his lifetime preached peace, honesty, love for one another and above all the fear of God,” stated the Bauchi governor. “It is these virtues that people, irrespective of their religious beliefs, are enjoined to imbibe and put into practice.”

He stated this on Wednesday in a goodwill message to mark the 2024 Christmas celebration.

Mr Mohammed urged all and sundry to live with one another harmoniously, irrespective of their political, cultural and religious differences.

“While we celebrate the event with meditation and happiness, we should also reflect seriously on our routine and spiritual deeds in the last one year and pray to God for better and prosperous years ahead,” the governor said.

He reiterated his commitment to ensure the security of lives and property of the citizens, adding that the state government was working in collaboration with security agencies to address threats to security.

According to Mr Mohammed, the government is providing logistics and other support to the security agencies to enhance their operations in the state.

He said the Bauchi government also implemented viable palliative programmes to cushion the effect of the economic crunch geared towards improving the social and economic well-being of the people.

The governor enjoined Bauchi residents to continue to exercise patience, stressing that his administration was working to mitigate the hardship caused by the economic conditions in the country.
