Meranda urges prayers for peace, unity during Ramadan

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has urged Muslims to use Ramadan to pray for peace and unity in the country.
Mrs Meranda made the call in her Ramadan message on Saturday in Lagos to mark the start of the 30-day fasting period.
She encouraged Muslims to share love with people of other religions to promote brotherhood among Nigerians.
“It is a period of sober reflection, a time to move closer to Almighty Allah in supplication, and a moment when prayers are answered.
“This spiritual period is not only for Muslims but all Nigerians, regardless of their religious beliefs, to seek positivity and divine guidance.
“Islam means peace, and this is an opportunity for Muslims to demonstrate the religion’s peaceful nature to people of other faiths.
“I greet all Muslims in this sacred period and pray we all reap its blessings in our lifetime and the hereafter,” she said.
Ms Meranda also prayed for forgiveness of sins and acceptance of fasting and prayers.
She wished the period would bring peace, harmony, and spiritual enlightenment to all aspects of life.
The speaker also wished all Muslims a fulfilling Ramadan.
