Man arraigned for allegedly stealing employer’s N1.3 million

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Police on Thursday arraigned 34-year-old Zacchaus Joseph, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing his employer’s N1,375,500.

Joseph, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with theft.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olusegun Adegboye told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence between August 4, 2021 and April 17, 2023.

Adegboye alleged that the defendant stole the money during his service as Asset Loan Manager with Grooming Centre Microfinance Bank Oluyole and Odo-Ona, Ibadan.

He added that the defendant stole the money without the consent of his employer and committed an offence contrary to the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs S. I. Babalola, granted the defendant bail for N400, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until December 19 for hearing.
