Man, 63, in court over alleged theft of planks

A 63-year-old man, Olatunji Olanbiwonninu, on Tuesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged stealing of planks.
Olanbiwonninu, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a charge of stealing, to which he, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between October and Nov. 11, 2024, at Anfaani, Oke-Ado area of Ibadan.
Lawal said that the defendant stole planks worth N420,000, property of the complainant, one Adebayo Adewole.
He said that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with two reliable sureties in like sum.
Olanipekun held that one of the sureties must be the defendant’s blood relation.
He, thereafter, adjourned the case till February 19 for hearing.
