Maguire salvages draw for Manchester United against Porto as European winless run continues

Manchester United’s European struggles continued as they could only salvage a dramatic 3-3 draw against Porto, despite taking an early two-goal lead.
A late header from Harry Maguire rescued a point for United, who were unable to capitalise on their advantage after a remarkable Porto comeback.
Porto started brightly, but their momentum was halted just seven minutes in when Marcus Rashford, cutting in from the left, danced past Stephen Eustaquio and Joao Mario before firing a low shot past Diogo Costa at the near post.
United doubled their lead shortly after, with Rashford once again at the heart of the action. He linked up with Rasmus Hojlund on the overlap, and the Danish striker slotted home, beating Costa at his near post for the second time.
Despite the deficit, Porto responded in style with two quick-fire goals. A pair of dangerous crosses from Joao Mario led to a close-range finish from Pepê after an initial fine save from Andre Onana. Just minutes later, Samu powered in a header to level the score at 2-2.
The second half saw Rashford withdrawn, a blow for United, and Porto capitalised, taking the lead through Samu once more, who finished a sharp pull-back from Pepê.
United’s hopes seemed to fade further when Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a second yellow card, both for dangerous play. Porto had the chance to put the game out of reach, but Deniz Gul missed a crucial opportunity.
In stoppage time, Maguire soared to meet a corner and powered in a header to secure a point for the visitors. Despite scoring three times, United extended their winless run in European away games to four. With a crucial Premier League clash against Aston Villa on the horizon, the pressure continues to mount on manager Erik ten Hag.
