Solomon Akwashiki (SDP), member representing Lafia Central constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged Nigerians to jettison ethnic and religious bias and vote only for credible leaders in 2027.

This, he said, was the only way to guarantee good governance that would engender development in the country.

Mr Akwashiki made the call when some groups — Migili Youth Association, Nasarawa state chapter, Grassroots Mobilisation Forum, Lafia Local Government Area, and Motorcycle and Tricycle Association of Nigeria, Lafia Branch — paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday in Lafia.

He noted that electing God-fearing leaders with the capacity to deliver would enhance peace and development in the country.

According to him, “It is high time to canvass for people of integrity for political positions in the country.”

He appreciated the groups for the visit and assured them of his commitment to quality representation and meeting the yearnings of his constituency.

“I will continue to do my best in the area of road construction, employment, education, water supply, empowerment, among others.

“I will continue to put smiles on the faces of my constituents and other people,” he said.

He promised to always avail his support to the groups when necessary to enable them to succeed in their activities.

The lawmaker also urged them to be law-abiding and continue to pray for leaders at all levels to succeed.

In their separate remarks, Ajeh Christopher, national president of Migili Youth Association, Ozega Mohammed of Grassroots Mobilisation Forum, and Jibrin Usman, chairman of the Motorcycle and Tricycle Association of Nigeria, said their visit was to identify with Mr Akwashiki for the good work he was doing at the legislature.

They assured Mr Akwashiki of their prayers and support while urging him to aspire for a higher political position in 2027.

They, however, solicited the support of the lawmaker to enable them to succeed in their activities.
