Rep. Abdulmalik Zubairu (APC-Zamfara) has distributed N26.8 million as scholarship grants to 670 undergraduates from his constituency.

Mr Zubairu represents Bungudu and Maru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the cash disbursement exercise to the beneficiaries in Bungudu town on Saturday, Mr  Zubairu said the gesture was part of his numerous interventions to support education in the constituency.

Mr Zubairu, represented by the chairman of his scholarship committee, Muhammad Adamu, said the beneficiaries were studying various courses at the Federal University Gusau.

He said each of the 670 beneficiaries received N40,000, totaling N26.8 million.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Nafiu Lawal, a 400-level student, said the gesture would reduce the economic hardship being faced by them especially the indigents.

“On behalf of the entire beneficiaries, we extend our gratitude to the lawmaker for his kind gesture to the students,” he said.

Mr Lawal urged the students to utilise the assistance and also concentrate on their studies.
