LASU, NIS to host African borderland conference
The Lagos State University, in partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service, is planning to host the African Borderlands Research Network Conference.
The LASU vice chancellor, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.
She said more than 250 scholars, practitioners, and development organisations were expected to attend the conference, which would be taking place in Nigeria for the first time.
“Come September 2026, history will be made as LASU and NIS will be hosting the next edition of the African Borderlands Research Network Conference for the first time in Nigeria.
“Preparations are ongoing, as I have also met with the comptroller-general of NIS in Abuja,” Ms Olatunji-Bello said.
She said the university would run a Border and Migration Studies programme at bachelor’s, postgraduate, professional certificate, and diploma levels.
