Lagos LG Poll: APC aspirant promises to reduce out-of-school children in Ikorodu

Oladele Ogunfodurin, a chairmanship aspirant for Ikorodu LGA in Lagos, has promised to build more public primary schools to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the area if elected.
Mr Ogunfodurin, an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, made the promise on Thursday in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Ikorodu currently has a metro area population of 1.1 million, with 69 public primary schools.
Mr Ogunfodurin is among the 22 aspirants vying for the APC ticket in Ikorodu for the forthcoming council elections.
The aspirant said he would improve the educational infrastructure and increase the number of public primary schools in the area, owing to its overwhelming population caused by urban-rural migration.
“I think I have what it takes to be a council chairman because I have a grip on the grassroots as a former ward executive of the party.
“I have worked at the state level as a collation officer of the APC and ran so many campaigns since 1999 till date,” he said.
Mr Ogunfodurin said his vision is to elevate living standards, uplift the educational landscape, and empower future generations.
He also promised to prioritise healthcare, build more markets with affordable shops to reduce street trading, empower traders with soft loans to boost their businesses and improve the internally generated revenue of the council.
He appealed to party leaders to make the selection process free, fair and credible.
The aspirant said this would give the electorate the best candidate who would be a beacon of hope for the growth and development of Ikorodu.
He acknowledged the achievements of the present council administration and promised to consolidate it for development and economic growth.
