Rep. Sesi Whinghan, representing the Badagry Federal Constituency, on Saturday concluded a two-day intensive training on biogas technology for 50 youths in Badagry.

Shortly after the training, Mr Whingah, represented by Hassan Hammed, his personal assistant, emphasised the importance of renewable energy for community development and economic empowerment.

“This initiative aligns with my vision of creating opportunities for our youths and promoting sustainable practices that will benefit not just individuals but our entire constituency.

“With this training, you now have the tools and resources to become change agents in the energy sector,” he stated.

Mr Whingan said the training was held in collaboration with the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA).

He said the aim is to empower participants with practical knowledge of biogas technology for domestic utilisation while promoting renewable energy solutions in the community.

The lawmaker said the training, which combined theoretical sessions with hands-on practical demonstrations, was facilitated by experts from NBRDA.

“Participants were trained on the production, application, and benefits of biogas technology. This will equip them with the skills to establish small-scale biogas systems for domestic and commercial purposes,” he said.

Mr Whingan provided each participant with a ₦100,000 start-up grant to kickstart their ventures in biogas technology.

According to the lawmaker, the financial support is expected to enable the beneficiaries to apply the knowledge gained during the training and contribute to the promotion of clean energy within Badagry.

Abdulhadi Adebayo, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the opportunity and the financial support.
