NYSC educates corps members on dangers of sexual harassment

The National Youth Service Corps in Katsina State has educated corps members on the dangers of sexual harassment.
The event, which took place in Katsina on Saturday, was part of the ongoing 2024 Batch C Stream, one three-week orientation course holding nationwide.
The NYSC Guardians and Counselling desk officer, Saude Ayuba, emphasised that sexual harassment was a criminal offence in the state.
She assured corps members that the NYSC would protect them against sexual harassment but emphasised that any corps member found guilty of such an offence would face consequences.
She said, “Any corps member found guilty of sexual harassment will be handed over to the relevant authorities for prosecution.’’
The Camp Director, Allen Chisom, advised corps members to familiarise themselves with the NYSC Act and by-laws, particularly sections related to sexual harassment.
The sensitisation lecture is part of NYSC’s efforts to create a safe and respectful environment for corps members.
