Kwara teachers should stop wearing ‘crazy’ jeans, short gowns: Educator

Kwara teachers should stop wearing ‘crazy jeans’, transparent and skimpy dresses to the classroom, says Kunle Olusola, an educator.
“We have been focusing only on students. Let us also focus on teachers to correct anomalies in the education system,” said Mr Olusola. “Enough of crazy jeans, transparent wears and short gowns in the classroom.”
He gave the advice on Friday in Ilorin.
Mr Olusola explained that teachers in other states should also take the advice and be professional in discharging their duties.
“It is very unprofessional for a teacher to wear just anything to the classroom. It is expected of every teacher to dress decently and be polite in the presence of pupils and students,” the Kwara educator stressed.
He added, “A teacher is expected to be a mentor to students in the way they speak; the way they dress and behave in the classroom. Teachers must be professional and polite in the discharge of their duties. We cannot ignore the ethics of the profession and focus on the academic aspects alone.”
The Ilorin-based educator also called on private school proprietors to enforce dress codes on teachers and not allow “freestyle dressing” in the school environment.
In addition, he urged stakeholders in the education sector to ensure strict monitoring of schools to curb indecent dress and grooming among teachers.
