Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi says the All Progressives Congress (APC) is confident of absolute victory in the local government elections scheduled for August 31.

Mr Idris disclosed this at the flag-off of the campaign and presentation of flags to APC chairmanship candidates at Koko town in Koko-Besse LGA on Saturday.

”With the level of achievements recorded by this administration, I am confident that APC will triumph at the polls,” said Mr Idris, who urged the electorate to vote for the party.

”The defection of some stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including three PDP members of the State House of Assembly to APC is an indication of acceptance of the good performance of our great party in the state in uplifting the well-being of the people,” he said.

The governor assured the gathering that what he had just started in the urban and rural transformation of the state would continue in earnest and spread even development to all sections of the state.

Mr Idris urged the APC candidates to go out with dexterity to secure victory for the party through goodwill and compassion.

Earlier, the director general of the Campaign Organisation of APC, Saidu Dakingari, described Mr Idris as an excellent party leader, saying he had performed remarkably well in improving all sectors of the economy.

Mr Dakingari, also a former governor of the state, appealed to the electorates to come out en mass to vote for all APC candidates in the elections.

The state APC chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, assured the new defectors of equal treatment, adding that they would enjoy rights and privileges just like other members.

He urged party members to uphold the ideals of unity, social cohesion and economic prosperity during and after the electioneering campaigns.
