Katsina revenue board seizes 240 motorcycles, tricycles

The Katsina State Internal Revenue Board says it seized 240 motorcycles and tricycles in its ‘Operation Show Your Particulars’.
The board’s spokesman, Sada Shu’aibu, said the exercise commenced on Tuesday.
Mr Shu’aibu explained that the operation for motor vehicles would commence on Thursday to check vehicle particulars.
“The ‘operation show your particular exercise’ began with motorcycles and tricycles and was carried out with assistance by security agencies. It is aimed at checking vehicles without genuine papers and also to curb other criminal activities with non-registered vehicles,” he stated.
Mr Shu’aibu added, “On the first day of the exercise, hundreds of motorcycles and tricycles were impounded and taken to Katsina Central Police Station, pending registration, before being handed back to the owners.”
According to him, the board visited the Liyafa roundabout, Katsina Central Mosque roundabout, and Katsina Central Market roundabout, urging motorists, tricycle and motorcycle operators to comply with traffic rules and regulations.
Mr Shu’aibu added that people without valid documents were compelled to update them during the exercise to avoid arrest.
“Already, some owners of tricycles and motorcycles seized have been trooping to the revenue service offices to renew their documents before being released to them,” the official said. “Owners of the seized motorcycles and tricycles must do the necessary documentation to update their particulars before they can be released to them.”
