Katsina earmarks N95.9 billion for education sector

The Katsina State government has allocated N95.9 billion for education in the 2025 fiscal year.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Bello Kagara, said this during the 2025 budget breakdown, on Tuesday in Katsina.
The budget tagged: “Building Your Future II,” seeks to fast track rapid and sustainable transformation of the state.
Mr Kagara said the budget breakdown exercise was in line with the government’s accountability and openness policies.
He said the total budget stood at N682.2 billion, with N157.9 billion recurrent expenditure, representing 23.15 per cent and N524.2 billion capital expenditure, representing 76.85 per cent.
The commissioner said that N95.9 billion, representing 14 per cent of the estimate, has been allocated to education development in line with the administration’s commitment to reinvigorate the sector.
Mr Kagara also said that agriculture and livestock development got N81.8 billion; works, housing and transport got N69.6 billion, and N62.7 billion allocated to rural and social development.
On sectoral allocation, Kagara said the administration sector got N98.2 billion, and N302.2 billion has been earmarked for the economic sector, and law and justice has N6.2 billion while the social sector got N275 billion.
According to Mr Kagara, the N157.9 billion recurrent expenditure comprises N51.6 billion personnel cost/salaries, and 15.4 billion for pension and gratuities. Other recurrent expenditure: N70,433,774,742.47; debt servicing N20,426,679,083.64” he said.
