Illegal immigrants from Tunisia to Europe drop by 20%

The number of Tunisian immigrants who reached Italian coasts illegally has dropped by 20 per cent from the beginning of this year until Aug. 31.
The Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDS) said from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, 2023, some 9,283 illegal immigrants of Tunisian nationality arrived at Italian shores, compared to 11,172 immigrants during the same period of 2022.
Thousands of illegal immigrants attempt to cross the Mediterranean every year.
Tunisia is one of the main points of access to Europe through irregular channels.
