Ikorodu LG boss presents vehicle to Iyaloja to aid market administration

The chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area (LGA) in Lagos, Wasiu Adesina, on Friday presented an official vehicle to the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu, Busola Isikalu, to aid the administration of markets in the area.
An official vehicle was also presented to the council’s manager, Johnson Agiri, at the council’s secretariat.
Mr Adesina said this was part of his administration’s development plan, adding that he had also increased the number of shops at the Sabo market and ensured improved structures.
He said the shops had been given out for sale at good rates, hinting that this development has made the market the third best in Lagos State.
“My administration started in 2015 with the late Iyaloja, Alhaja Taofikat Allynson, advising us on different challenges of the market.
“When we came in, we met the Sabo market in a deplorable state; after our executive meeting, I decided to improve the market with standard structures.
“I constructed drainages and interlocking and installed solar lights to curb insecurity that attracted the presence of the first lady, Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu,” he said.
He, however, warned traders against indiscriminate dumping of refuse or encouraging a filthy environment.
“We want to ensure that we maintain a clean environment to improve our health and lifestyles; it is important we do this to ensure that the younger ones imbibe such an attitude for improved living,” Mr Adesina said.
Meanwhile, he thanked the traders for their contributions and urged them to double their votes for the APC at the forthcoming council polls scheduled for July 12.
In her words of appreciation, the Iyaloja (Isikalu) expressed gratitude to the chairman for his unwavering support of women, as well as for providing an official vehicle to her office.
She said the vehicle would alleviate the hardship of the executives and help in the smooth running of market affairs.
