IGP Egbetokun orders immediate posting of seven DIGs

The Force had ordered the immediate retirement of senior police officers following an investigation into allegations of age falsification.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Thursday ordered the immediate posting of seven deputy inspector generals to the force’s various departments in Abuja.

According to a wireless memo dated March 6, 2025, Mr Egbetokun said the posting of the senior police officers should be carried out with immediate effect.

The DIGs posted, along with their respective departments, include Sahabo Abubakar Yahaya (Department of Finance and Administration), Sadiq Idris Abubakar (Force Criminal Investigation Department), Benjamin Nebolisa Okolo (Force Intelligence Bureau), and William Adebowale (Department of Information and Communication Technology).

Others include Bzigu Yakubu Kwazhi (Directorate of Professional Standards), Adebola Ayinde Hamzat (Department of Logistics and Supply), and Idegwu Basil Okuoma (Research and Development).

Peoples Gazette earlier reported that the Force had ordered the immediate retirement of senior police officers following an investigation into allegations of an age falsification scandal levelled against them.

The affected officers, along with their effective retirement dates, include AIG Idowu Owohunwa, CP Benneth Igweh (10/2/2025), CP Aina Emmanuel (1/5/2023), ACP Salama Wakili Abdul (10/2/2025), ACP Simon Lough (26/2/2025), ACP Dakon Philip Sarpiya (1/8/2022), and AVP Grace Ejiofor (12/12/2023)
