Akinola Akinjide, a House of Representatives candidate of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency in Oyo State, says he would ‘lobby’ the budget office to insert projects for his constituents, if elected in the 2023 elections.

Mr Akinjide, who recently dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Accord Party, said this while addressing his constituents at Olode in Egbeda Local government area of Ibadan.

In a short video clip, the aspiring parliamentarian said the primary function of a legislator is to pass laws that would attract dividends of democracy to the people.

“But what is the essence of the law?” Mr Akinjide retorted in the video that Peoples Gazette cannot immediately verify the time of its recording.

“The essence of passing the law is to affect your people positively and that is the work of a legislator.”

“From there, you can lobby that you have your constituency and there is a road. Please, put it in the budget for me. If it’s two million naira that you want to collect in the budget office, take it and put it in the budget,” he told the constituents.

Mr Akinjide, a staunch supporter of the APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu has been moving around to gain support and canvass votes from members of his constituency ahead of the general election.

“So, for the love you have for me, I won’t betray you if elected. I’m willing to dole out cash and assist you if I get there,” the house of representatives candidate pledged.

The Accord Party candidate had recently noted that there was no other reason he is aiming for the seat at the lower chamber than to attract positive development to the people of his constituency.
