Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the UK Conservative Party, has said that she does not want migrants from other parts of the world to make the UK a “nation of little ghettos” like where they came from.

Ms Badenoch warned that Britain would become a nation of “little ghettos” if migrants failed to integrate during the opening of her party’s conference in Birmingham on Sunday.

“I don’t want lots of little ghettos of separatist communities where they are recreating the place that they came from. That will ruin the United Kingdom,” Ms Badenoch said.

Vowing to rebuild Britain in the same way Margaret Thatcher did in 1979, the Tory leader argued that immigrants must respect the culture and values of the UK.

“This is our home. It is not a dormitory. It is not a hotel. Even if people come here just to work, they need to respect our culture. They need to respect our values,” Ms Badenoch said.

Mrs Badenoch, 45, who was born in Wimbledon, South West London, in 1980, has maintained an opposing posture towards immigrants in the UK and has been critical of Nigeria, often lamenting widespread corruption in the country and pushing against Nigerian immigrants coming to obtain UK citizenship.

Last January, she said her push for stringent immigration laws was because she did not want Britain to be like Nigeria, a poor country where terrible government destroys lives.
