Human remains discovered along Switzerland-Germany border

Police in Switzerland’s Aargau region, on Monday , discovered bags containing the body parts of a man in the Rhine River near the border between Germany and Switzerland.
Investigators suspect that it was a homicide.
On Sunday, three men noticed a bag in the water near the riverbank in the Swiss municipality of Stein. When they pulled it ashore, they discovered a human leg inside.
Stein lies opposite the German town of Bad Säckingen.
Authorities said Swiss police divers then searched the river, finding additional bags containing more human remains.
The victim’s identity has not yet been conclusively established, authorities added.
A police spokesman told Switzerland’s Blick newspaper that the dead man was connected to a nearby centre housing asylum seekers. It was initially unclear whether he lived there.
The Aargau criminal investigation department is appealing for witnesses who may have noticed anything suspicious along the banks of the Rhine or elsewhere.
