Gunmen kill vigilante operative in Anambra, destroy operation vehicles

The police command in Anambra says yet-to-be-identified persons have attacked a vigilante group office in Umunze, Orumba-South Local Government Area of the state.
The attack led to the killing of a vigilante operative and the setting ablaze of five operation vehicles and part of the group’s office.
The police public relations officer (PPRO), Tochukwu Ikenga, said this in a statement on Friday in Awka.
Mr Ikenga said that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, when the suspected armed men attacked the vigilante’s office at Umunze and set the vehicles on fire.
He explained that the security operatives, in an attempt to resist the gunmen during a gun duel, recorded a fatal injury to one of the operatives.
