Gunmen kidnap Akwa Ibom pastor on church premises

The police command in Akwa Ibom has confirmed the abduction of John Okoriko, a pastor and founder of Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Ibekwe, at Akpan Nya in the Mkpat Enin area.
On Wednesday, police spokesman Odiko Macdon told journalists that the abduction happened at about 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at his church residence in Mkpat Enin.
“As I speak, a lot has been done already. I want to believe that we will get to the root in no distant time,” Mr Macdon explained.
Mr Macdon explained that the police command was working on rescuing the cleric.
A witness, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the gunmen invaded the pastor’s residence, located on the church premises, by jumping its fence, shooting into the air before whisking the octogenarian pastor away.
Meanwhile, almost all the church branches have held prayer sessions for their spiritual leader to regain his freedom.
