Granite supplier faces N3.4 million fraud charge

A 39-year-old granite supplier, Ogundeji Oladipupo, has appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, over alleged involvement in a N3.4 million granite fraud.
The defendant, who resides at Ototo Community, Ogundeji House, Abeokuta, Ogun State, is facing charges bordering on stealing and obtaining under false pretence.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences between April 4 and April 8 during a business dealing at Alapere in the Ketu area of Lagos.
Mr Bassey alleged that a total sum of N3.4 million was paid into the defendant’s GTBank and First Bank accounts by the complainant, Rafiat Olatundun, for the supply of granite to her.
He stated that the transaction was carried out under the guise of a legitimate business agreement, but the defendant allegedly failed to fulfill his part of the agreement.
The prosecutor said the defendant converted the money to his personal use
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 287 and 314(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, O.A Daodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 4 for trial.
