Gov. Sani orders payment of outstanding KEDCO debts

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has directed the immediate payment of all outstanding debts accrued from 2022 to the Kaduna Electric Company.
The directive is contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Kaduna by the governor’s chief press secretary, Muhammad Shehu.
He said the payment would enable the restoration of power supply to the Kafanchan and Kaduna campuses of Kaduna State University (KASU).
“On receipt of reports on the lingering power outage on both campuses, Governor Sani immediately directed the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Muhammad Sani Bello, to investigate the cause of the blackout on the Kafanchan and Kaduna City campuses of the institution,” he stated.
The statement further added that, following the findings and recommendations of the commissioner, Mr Sani ordered that all outstanding debts from 2022 be paid to ensure that power supply is restored to both campuses.
The state government had promised to improve its educational sector and also ease its accessibility for students in all state-owned tertiary institutions.
“Education is one of the major priorities of Governor Uba Sani’s administration, and the governor has given assurances that interventions and initiatives will continue to be implemented to ameliorate the challenges faced by students in all state-owned tertiary institutions,” said the statement.
