Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti has warned newly inaugurated commissioners and special advisers against indiscipline and abuse of office.

Mr Oyebanji gave the warning on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of three commissioners and 10 special advisers.

He said the government would not tolerate unethical conduct, bureaucratic delays or actions capable of undermining its development agenda.

The governor said his second term was not an opportunity for complacency or self-indulgence but a fresh mandate to consolidate the achievements of his first term and accelerate development across the state.

He cautioned returning commissioners against allowing their experience and length of service to breed arrogance or a false sense of indispensability.

Mr Oyebanji said discipline and speed would remain the guiding principles of his administration, adding that all government activities must reflect professionalism, transparency, technical competence and efficiency.

He urged the appointees to work as a team, translate electoral promises into tangible benefits for the people and avoid creating divisions within government.

He warned them against the emergence of what he described as “untouchable imperial lords or bureaucratic dictators”.

The governor expressed confidence in the competence of the returning commissioners: Dayo Apata, SAN, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; Akintunde Oyebode, Commissioner for Finance and Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health and Human Services.

He also inaugurated 10 special advisers, including James Olaleye, James Folorunso, John Moyo Ekundayo, Bunmi Talabi, Olayinka Oyebode, Adetoun Agboola, Gbenga Oyewole, Kayode Adaramodu, Ebenezer Boluwade and Akeem Azeez.

Mr Oyebanji urged the appointees to bring renewed energy, creativity and commitment to governance.

Responding on behalf of the appointees, Mr Apata commended the governor for the confidence reposed in them, pledging their commitment to supporting his administration in delivering on its promises to the people of Ekiti.
