2027: Delta APC pledges peaceful campaigns, security for residents

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta has pledged to respect the rights of other political parties to campaign peacefully and ensure the security of all residents.
Charles Aniagwu, chairman of the Delta APC media and publicity committee, made the pledge while briefing journalists on the party’s campaign flag-off schedule on Wednesday in Asaba.
Mr Aniagwu said the APC’s 2027 campaign would be flagged off on Thursday, November 5, at Oleh Township Stadium in Isoko South Local Government Area.
He said the campaign would be peaceful, decent and issue-based ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the party would focus on development, empowerment, job creation and improved security, highlighting the achievements of Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration and President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.
Mr Aniagwu said Oleh was chosen for the flag-off because of its strategic location and accessibility to residents across the three senatorial districts.
“A large turnout of party members and supporters is expected from the state’s 25 local government areas.
“The flag-off will be followed by a state campaign rally in Ozoro, Isoko North, before the campaign moves to individual local government areas for direct engagement with residents,” he said.
He said the APC would not be distracted by political controversies but would focus on presenting its achievements and development plans to the electorate.
He said the campaign would highlight Mr Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda and the proposed M.O.R.E Plus programme.
He said the programme sought to expand investment in infrastructure, economic empowerment, job creation and private-sector development.
Mr Aniagwu said the Oborevwori-led government would not abandon governance during the campaign.
He said the administration was determined to consolidate its road and bridge projects while creating an enabling environment for businesses and industries.
According to him, the governor recently performed the groundbreaking ceremony for Olam Agri’s animal feed mill, demonstrating the administration’s efforts to attract investment.
“The facility, expected to be completed within one year, will support poultry and fish farmers, create a market for agricultural produce and generate over 1,000 direct jobs,” he said.
Mr Aniagwu said the Olam Agri project was one of the outcomes of the state economic summit.
He added that the government had provided an enabling environment for investment to thrive.
“The provision of roads, bridges, security and other critical infrastructure remains essential to attracting investors and sustaining economic growth,” he said.
Mr Aniagwu said Mr Tinubu’s economic reforms had given states a financial boost to drive development and support local government financial autonomy.
He, however, acknowledged the economic difficulties Nigerians were facing and urged them to be patient with the reforms.
Speaking on the party’s electoral prospects, Mr Aniagwu said the APC would rely on persuasion, mobilisation and sustained engagement rather than make unrealistic promises about its expected votes.
He urged the media to provide balanced and factual coverage of the campaign.
Mr Aniagwu assured journalists that the party’s media committee would maintain regular engagement with the press throughout the electioneering period.
