German raid on Islamic State targets over 100 properties

German police have deployed more than 1,000 officers to conduct raids on a financial network of the Islamic State terrorist organisation, searching more than 100 premises, federal prosecutors reported on Wednesday.
Federal and regional police and prosecutors combined to conduct the raids, arresting seven suspects in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Bremen and North Rhine Westphalia.
“By collecting donations and passing them on to Islamic State, they played a central role in the financial network,” they said.
Most of the arrested suspects of German nationality were to appear before a federal court on Wednesday and Thursday.
The court would rule on whether they would be held in custody.
