FBI unveils identity of shooter attempting to assassinate Trump

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation has identified the shooter at Donald Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania rally that left one dead and another injured on Saturday.
The FBI identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man, as the “subject involved” in the assassination attempt on Mr Trump, in a statement on Sunday.
The shooter who disrupted Mr Trump’s Pennsylvania rally was neutralised, according to Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger.
The U.S President, Joe Biden, in a post on X, said “I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.”
The incident sparked panic among the rallygoers as Mr Trump was swiftly escorted off the stage by Secret Service agents with blood staining his ear and face, following a brief but alarming gunshot sound.
Since the event, footage showing Mr Trump with blood on his face and ear has gone viral, capturing the dramatic and unsettling nature of the episode.
Saturday’s shooting at Mr Trump’s during the Pennsylvania rally, marked another incident in U.S. political history, adding to the list of presidential candidates shot at.
