Emir of Bauchi advises parents on proper child training

The Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Sulaiman, has advised parents to raise their children uprightly to curb the rising youth decadence in society.
The emir made the appeal while addressing worshippers and dignitaries after the two-rakat eid el-fitr prayer to mark the successful completion of Ramadan on Sunday in Bauchi.
He lamented the increasing cases of youth involvement in drug abuse, criminal activities, and immorality.
The emir attributed the trend to lack of adequate parental supervision, mentorship, and moral guidance.
He stated, “The decadence among our youths is worrisome, and it is the responsibility of parents to ensure they instill good values in their children. The increasing involvement of young people in drug abuse and immoral acts is a challenge we must tackle collectively. Parents must be proactive in shaping the character of their children to prevent them from engaging in vices that can ruin their future and that of society.’’
He urged community leaders, religious scholars, and educators to complement parental efforts in instilling good morals in the younger generation.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Aulwa Jatau, in his eid message, emphasised the need for public support in maintaining security.
He urged residents to be vigilant and cooperative with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities or criminal elements in their communities.
Mr Jatau said, “The government and security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure peace and security but we need the support of the public. Residents should not hesitate to report any suspected criminal activity to the authorities for prompt action. It is a collective responsibility to ensure that our communities remain safe and conducive for development.’’
He further assured the people of Bauchi that the government remained committed to implementing policies that would enhance security and improve the quality of life for residents.
The deputy governor also highlighted the need for youths to embrace skills acquisition and entrepreneurship to reduce their vulnerability to negative influences.
The eid celebration in Bauchi State was marked peacefully with prayers, festivities, and a renewed call for collective efforts to address societal challenges.
