Eld-el-Fitr: Southern senators urge citizens to shun divisiveness amid Nigeria’s challenges

The Nigerian Southern Senators’ Forum (NSSF) on Tuesday urged Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to stand together in solidarity against all forms of divisiveness.
The forum’s chairman, Adetokunbo Abiru, gave the charge in a statement to felicitate the Muslim faithful on the completion of the Ramadan fast and the commemoration of Eid-fitr.
Mr Abiru said the month of Ramadan was significant to all Muslims and was one of the important pillars of Islam.
The senator called on Muslims and all Nigerians to pray for peace and ensure peaceful coexistence.
”Our dear nation is passing through a phase in history that requires the cooperation and understanding of all well-meaning citizens.
”The raft of reforms and policy decisions of the administration of President Bola Tinubu, and the proactiveness of the National Assembly, under the dynamic leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, in championing laws that will ensure socio-economic stability, growth and development, are all geared towards restoring our dear nation on the path of progress,” Mr Abiru said.
According to him, as it is typical of child-bearing, pain precedes the arrival of the bundle of joy.
He said the Senate identified with all Nigerians over the inevitable discomfort and pains experienced during this period.
The forum chairman appealed for more patience, as the benefits and gains ahead far outweighed the current pains people were experiencing.
”As we mark this auspicious day, let us reaffirm our commitment to promoting peace, tolerance, and understanding in our diverse communities.
”Let us embrace the essence of Eid-Fitr by extending kindness to one another and standing together in solidarity against all forms of divisiveness,” he said.
